Dear neighbor:
As you may have heard, I decided to surrender my position as a member of the Florida Senate in order to challenge and replace the incumbent scandal plagued Hillsborough County Property Appraiser due to his publicly admitted breaches of the public trust.
I was as outraged as you were by these abuses of power and public goodwill, so I agreed to step up, sacrifice my position as a Florida State Senator and give Hillsborough taxpayers the opportunity to decide for themselves. And decide they did. My efforts were rewarded with a resounding 70% margin of the county wide voters participating in my primary to give me the victory.
This outstanding primary victory propels me toward the General Election with enormous momentum and goodwill across the county! The groundswell will carry us through to our goal of cleaning up the mess in the Property Appraiser’s office. We are just halfway through the battle, but I know I can count on people like you to push through and get the job done.
And don’t you know the job will be huge? The office needs performance-based standards, critical tax saving initiatives, taxpayer due process rights and technological advances. Change in government is never easy, and this task calls for a strong, proven leader unintimidated by the magnitude of the job ahead. I pledge to work on your behalf, restore your confidence in this office, and fight for the work-a-day men and women of our communities in Hillsborough County.
